SAA recognises that Western Australia leads the world in sandalwood plantations and intend on making Perth the capital of the sandalwood world. SAA is a united industry platform to guide resources for the future by;
- Maintaining an inventory of the plantations for future management
- Providing members with information on growing, harvesting and marketing of sandalwood
- Facilitate and support research into sandalwood production, genetics, harvesting techniques, marketing and product value adding developments
- Promote the sandalwood industry to the wider community
- Standardise the terminology used for different grades and products of sandalwood, in line with international practice
- Represent members at all levels of industry and government
- Promote industry development through involvement with research, education and training opportunities
- Promote Australian sandalwood to national and overseas markets
